Today, the lifespan of cars has been improved unlike before when a car was considered worthless after running for some miles despite the fact that the technology behind manufacture remains the same. An example of additives in this category is the water-dispersant additive which removes the condensed water by absorbing it and transferring to the exhaust stream where it is vaporized.  Alcohol prevents the freezing of the condensed water by mixing with it.

The function of octane boosters is to increase the octane ring in gasoline to facilitate lubrication of valves.  Octane booster is also capable of lubricating iron valve seats because of the presence of valve seat lubricant in it. Diesel exhaust liquid is injected into the exhaust gas stream to aid the breakdown of nitrogen compounds into water and nitrogen.  Another group of additives is anti-gelling additives which help in liquefying of solidified gel and paraffin wax.  The presence of solidified gel and paraffin wax leads to weak cold starting performance. Automotive is always affected by fuel volatility.  To maintain the volatility of the fuel you should add gasoline stabilizers. Gasoline stabilizers also reduces the starting difficulty resulting from tendency of the more gaseous components to vaporize into the atmosphere. Corrosion inhibitors are useful for the prevention of corrosion of the engine system that uses ethanol based fuel.  The deposits of carbon around the valves and pistons can be removed using fuel injector cleaners.
